Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

AKC Champion MoonFire's Yukon Jack, HIC
May 3, 1996 - December 18, 2004
Yukie was the best dog we ever had. Kind, sweet, full of life and fun, and what a great sense of humor. The girls of the pack thought Yukie was just plain cool! He loved to go for walks, chase sheep and elk, hunt squirrels, and lay on the couch, after he removed ALL of the pillows - a nightly ritual.
Yukie was a multiple Best of Breed winner and multiple Working Group placer. Yukie was 4th stud dog at the Samoyed Club of America's National Specialty (2000), owner handled. Yukie finished his AKC Championship (mostly owner handled) with three major wins. Yukie also had a Best of Opposite Specialty win, owner-handled .Yukie also had a beautiful front, nice sidegait, a very friendly personality, a correct sammy head with the neat sammy smile, great pigment, and nice bone.
Yukie's hips were rated as GOOD by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and he had great eyes (CERF). He just passed his age 8 CERF (June 18, 2004) which is considered a permanent CERF by the Samoyed Club of America. Yukie had also been cleared (normal) for XL-PRA (eyes) with DNA testing from one of his daughters. Eight of his puppies (Aliy, Raven, Kola, Lara, Tessie, Max, Fyre, Tori) have also had their hips tested for hip dysplasia by OFA and all have passed, including 7 goods! All of the above also have good eyes - CERF. We are very proud of our boy for producing such great pups! So far, Yukie has six AKC Champion kids. Yukie was an awesome guy, a complete ham, and so much fun to be with. He always put a smile on my face.

Someone said: "Our animals shepherd us through certain eras of our lives. When we are ready to turn the corner and make it on our own...they let us go." Yukie spent his last 7 months taking care of me through my horrible ordeal with cancer of the lymph system. He died unexpectedly two days after I got my first post-chemo Pet Scan showing the cancer was gone; he was only 8 years old. Maybe he came to help me through it, and now that I am better, he was called home. I don't know if that is true or not, but I do know he was the best dog I ever had and I loved him with all my heart. Thanks for everything, Yukie.
